our trip to pearse museum
On thursday we went on a trip to the pearse museum in ratfarnham for a part of our history programme. The trip was long but good, when we arrived in the 50 acres of park we were amazed,it had about 4 gaa pitches and the grass was brilliant.
We had a short puc around in hurling then had our morning breakfast, after that we made our way to the museum.
It was really hard to imagine that the building was over 100 years old,if i had to say how old it was i'd say it was about 50 odd years old.We made our way around the back (now the reception hq).We were greeted very nicely by the staff and we had to put our hurl's in a special corner before we went into a room to watch the history of the museum.
Patrick and his brother Willie were very good freinds and as they walked around the park where their hero Robert Emmet and Sarah Curran went all the time. When they were walking along they seen the building and they rented it out. That how St.Enda's school was born.
After the film we went to the main hall where the front door was,and seen two paintings by
Elvery (i forget first name) and a table that is said that Robert Emmet was quartered.
We went to patricks main office whare there were still papers and letters from 1916.
Then we made our way to the place were the students done their Obair Bhaile, although there were no desks in the room there were in 1916 and the other years.
We only went into the chapel for a minuite but it was wierd to see a chapel in a school.
Our last stop in the building was one of the dormatory's and some of the beds from 93 years ago were there, but there were a copule of new beds aswell.
We went to the nature room after that and we had to write down a couple of things (can't remember what they were). We also got to see and feel real birds (dead).
We also got to find out that there are bats living in the attic.
When we made our way back,we passed Emmets fort, and started hiking.
When we finnaly got back to the gaa pitches we played hurling for about 20 minuites and then we went back had our lunch and got back on the bus. There was singing on the bus
and it was great we our now in the school reading THE YOUNG REBELS as I write this
AND THAT WAS OUR TRIP.

Visit to the Dail
Joey’s Chefs in the Corridors (and Kitchens) of Power!
At the invitation of the Minister for Children, the members of the Joey’s Cookery Club took a trip to Dáil Éireann where they presented the Minister with a Great Joey’s Cookbook and a basket of freshly baked cakes and breads straight from the recipe book! Mr. Andrews was joined by Mr. Haughey and both ministers congratulated the boys on their wonderful achievement. The boys also met with local T.D. Finian McGrath and spotted a number of other high-profile politicians including a very worried looking Minister for Finance!
With due respect to the politicians the highlight of trip was, as befits budding chefs, the tour of the Dáil kitchens. Thanks to Dail chef Tony O’Brien, (Loughlan’s Dad and, incidentally, a former Joey’s pupil himself), the boys had lunch in the Dáil restaurant and then toured the kitchens and learned a lot about life behind the scenes in a busy restaurant.
Thanks to all concerned for a wonderful, educational opportunity.

On Sunday me my family went to Poland. On Monday we went skiing. Iwas the second best of the holiday. On Tuesday we went skiing again. After skiing we went to the swimming pool. The swimming pool had a sauna, steamroom and a jacuzzi. There was a gym and a pool table.
On Wednesday we went skiing and when it was lunch we went to the ski cafe . After skiing we went to the jacuzzi. On Thursday we went into town. I bought a Polish flag and a hat.
On Friday we went skiing and into town for dinner. We got a really funny taxi driver. He thought he was a cowboy. He kept saying 'Yee Ha!!!'. Saturday was our last day skiing. We had fun on the slopes and then had to pack to go home.
